Get to know your work environment

With Tricentis ARA, you can create TestCases quickly and easily. To control the recording process, use the Tricentis ARA window.

Navigate the Tricentis ARA window

The Tricentis ARA window appears over your application. Use it to control your recording.

You can drag and drop the Tricentis ARA window to any position on your screen.

Start recording

To start recording with Tricentis ARA, click Start recording.

Before you start recording, make sure the zoom factor of both your browser and the Windows display settings is set to 100%.
When you start recording a browser window, Tricentis ARA checks the browser extension and informs you if it needs to install or update it.

Options when recording is running

When recording is running, the Tricentis ARA window displays the following buttons:

Description

Pause the recording. When you press this button, it changes to the resume icon.

Resume the recording. When you press this button, it changes to the pause icon.

Stop the recording. You can't resume stopped recordings.

Switch to Create Image-Based Control Mode.

Turn Verification Mode on or off.

Open the settings dialog to configure Tricentis ARA.

Options when recording is stopped

When recording is stopped, the Tricentis ARA window displays the following buttons:

Description

Start a new recording. The new recording overwrites your previous recording.

Play back what you have previously recorded.

With this function, you can check if your recorded test would execute properly in Tricentis Tosca. Tricentis ARA shows passed TestSteps in green and failed TestSteps in red. If the playback fails, Tricentis ARA displays an error message.

Undo the last change you made to a TestStep value. You can also undo a change by pressing CTRL+Z.

Click the down arrow to view all changes. Click an element on the list to undo several changes at the same time.

Redo the last change you made to a TestStep value. You can also redo a change by pressing CTRL+Y.

Click the down arrow to view all the changes that you have undone. Click an element on the list to redo several changes at the same time.

Save the recording.

Continue the recording from the last TestStep.

Open the settings dialog to configure Tricentis ARA.

View recorded TestSteps

The Tricentis ARA window shows a list of all TestSteps that you have recorded. When you record a new TestStep, Tricentis ARA adds it to the list.

When you stop the recording, the icon appears next to each TestStep.

Click on the icon to edit the recorded TestSteps.
