Buffer Operations

The folder Buffer Operations contains the following Modules:

TBox Set Buffer

This Module can be used to either create or verify buffer values.

Enter the buffer name into the Name column and set the ActionMode to Input to save a value to the buffer. Use the ActionMode Verify to verify buffered values.

Define the values to be buffered and verified in the Value column.

Example 1: Buffering a value

In this example the value I am a sample text is written to the buffer Buffer_1. The ActionMode Input must be selected.

Example 2: Verifying a buffer value

The following example verifies whether the buffer Buffer_1 contains the value I am a sample text. The ActionMode Verify must be selected.

TBox Name To Buffer

This Module allows the name of a TestCase that uses the Module to be used as a buffer value.

The Module contains the following ModuleAttribute:

Description

Buffer

Name of the buffer where the TestCase name should be saved as a value. If the specified buffer name does not yet exist, this is newly created.

The ActionMode Input is used here.

TBox Name To Buffer TestCases must be run via an ExecutionList in the Execution section since the scratchbook does not return the expected result.

In this example the TestCase name TBox Buffer Operations is written to the buffer Test01. The ActionMode Input must be selected.

TBox Partial Buffer

This Module is used to either buffer or verify parts of a value.

The Module TBox Partial Buffer contains the following ModuleAttributes:

Description

Buffer

Buffer name.

The ActionMode Input is used here.

Value

Value to be buffered or verified. You can also read out the value of an existing buffer.

The ActionModes Input or Verify are used here.

Start

This indicates the character from which the system should start buffering or verifying the value.

The ActionMode Input is used here.

End

Indicates the character that should end the value to be buffered or verified.

The ActionMode Input is used here.

Last

Indicates the number of characters to be buffered or verified, starting from the last character. If this value is set, the ModuleAttributes Start and End will be ignored.

The ActionMode Input is used here.

If the values Buffer and Value are the only ones set, the functionality is similar to the one in the Module TBox Set Buffer.

The buffer Buffer_1 includes the value I am a sample text. This value is to be written to the buffer Partial_Buffer up to the fifth character. The ActionMode Input must be selected.

Tosca Commander creates the buffer Partial_Buffer with the value i am in the Settings dialog.

TBox Delete Buffer

This Module allows you to remove either individual or all existing buffers from both the Settings dialog and the Settings.xml file.

ModuleAttribute

Description

Buffer

Name of the buffer to be deleted.

If no value is specified, Tosca will delete all existing buffers.

Example - Deleting individual buffers

The example below deletes the following buffers: Buffer_1 and Partial_Buffer.

The TestStepValue Buffer is created for each buffer and the buffer name is specified as value.

If you would like to delete all buffers, simply leave the value field of the TestStepValue Buffer empty.
