Introduction to Projects

LiveCompare allows users with LiveCompare Administrator privileges to define projects to determine which workspaces, RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets are accessible to each user. Each project may contain zero or more users, workspaces, RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets.

  • If no projects are defined, each user has access to all the workspaces registered in LiveCompare, and all the RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets that have been created. The level of access each user has is determined by theirrole.
  • When the first project has been defined, LiveCompare becomes a project-controlled application. The level of access each user has is still determined by their role, however each user has access to only those projects of which they are a member.
  • If projects have been defined and a set of LiveCompare templates or Apps is installed, any External Data Sources associated with the templates or Apps are added to each of the projects.

When LiveCompare is project-controlled, users with LiveCompare Editor or Consumer privileges must be assigned to projects in order to access workspaces, RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets. The accessibility of workspaces, RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets is limited as follows:

  • The LiveCompare hierarchy only displays the workspaces, RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets available in the currently selected project.

  • Users with LiveCompare Editor privileges may edit the details for RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets in the current project.

  • The App Store screen only displays Apps in the currently selected project.
  • The RFC Destinations, External Data Sources, Apps, LUXes, Test Repositories and S3 Buckets available to an App are limited to those included in the currently selected project.

If a user with LiveCompare Editor privileges logs in to LiveCompare where projects have been defined, a project selection list box is displayed in the top right-hand corner of the LiveCompare screen. The user’s currently selected project is shown in bold in the LiveCompare hierarchy.

Users with LiveCompare Administrator privileges cannot be added to projects and are excluded from project control.
