Attributes Display

The Attributes tab displays a comparison of the attributes associated with an object selected from a Hierarchy dataset or report, or compared by the Quick Compare Wizard. If the attributes are the same on each of the compared systems, the Attributes tab is marked with Row Same icon.. If the attributes are different, the tab is marked with Row Different icon.. Note that not all object types have attributes.

Object attributes are shown in a tree structure with a top-level branch for each attribute type. The branches are collapsed by default. Each branch is marked with Row Same icon. if the attributes of this type are the same on each of the compared systems, or with Row Different icon. if any of the attribute values are different.

Expand the tree structure to display attribute values from each of the compared systems, and the description for each attribute. Each attribute is marked with an icon to indicate its comparison status:

Icon Description

Same icon.

The attribute value is the same in each of the compared systems.

Different icon.

The attribute value is different in each of the compared systems.

Row In 1 icon.

The attribute value exists in the first compared system only.

Row In 2 icon.

The attribute value exists in the second compared system only.

BW Attributes

The Attributes tab for a BW object may include folders that store details of related objects. For example, the Attributes tab for a Transfer Structure includes a folder that displays details of the object’s associated Transfer Rules. The details are shown in a table display; mouse over each column heading to display its long description.

Descriptions for BW Objects

By default, the descriptions for BW objects are not compared, and they are excluded from the Attributes display if a Hierarchy dataset contains comparison results. To compare BW object descriptions, create object attribute filters for the required BW types, and check the appropriate ‘Description’ attributes. Alternatively, use the Quick Compare Wizard and select ‘Compare all attributes’ in the main screen.

In hierarchy datasets, click the ‘Export Attributes to Excel’ link to export the attribute comparison details to an Excel spreadsheet.
