External Data Folders

External Data Folders are subfolders of the Data/External Data Sources folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy. If you have LiveCompare Editor or Administrator privileges, these folders allow you to organize the Data/External Data Sources folder by grouping related External Data Sources together.

Creating External Data Folders

To create an External Data Folder, carry out the following steps:

  1. Select the Data/External Data Sources folder or an existing External Data Folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy, and choose ‘New > External Data Folder’ from the context menu.
  2. Provide a name for the External Data Folder by editing the folder’s label.

Moving External Data Sources into a Folder

To move an External Data Source into an External Data Folder, drag it from its current hierarchy location and drop it onto the target External Data Folder. External Data Folders (along with their contents) may also be dragged and dropped to create nested folders.

Renaming External Data Folders

To rename an External Data Folder, select it in the hierarchy and press F2 or choose ‘Rename’ from the context menu. Provide a new name for the External Data Folder using in-line editing.

Deleting External Data Folders

To delete an External Data Folder, select it in the Data/External Data Sources hierarchy and choose ‘Delete’ from the context menu. A confirmation dialog is displayed. When an External Data Source Folder is deleted, all of its children are also deleted.
