External Data Source Parameters
External Data Source parameters are used by the Read External Data Source and Write External Data Source actions to specify which External Data Source to use.
To set the value of an External Data Source parameter, open the Property Editor and click the field to the right of the parameter's ‘External Data Source’ action property. The External Data Source dialog is displayed in the lower portion of the Workflow Editor, showing the name of the parameter being edited. Note that the workflow diagram may not be edited while this dialog is displayed.
This dialog displays items from the Data/External Data Sources folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy. External Data Folders are marked with , and External Data Sources are marked with . Click ‘Refresh’ if necessary to update the display.
Expand the display to select an External Data Source. The dialog’s ‘Details:’ section is filled in as follows:

TableName: | The database table, Excel worksheet or CSV file associated with the External Data Source. |
Click ‘Save’ to confirm your selection, alternatively double-click the required External Data Source. The name of the selected External Data Source is displayed above the parameter node.
To examine the details for an External Data Source parameter after a workflow has been saved, double-click the node or select ‘View Details’ from the node’s context menu.
