Retrieving Short Dump Data

If you have LiveCompare Administrator privileges, an RFC Destination object in the LiveCompare hierarchy may be configured to retrieve short dump data from its associated SAP system. LiveCompare Editors may also configure RFC Destinations to retrieve short dump data if this has been permitted by your installation.

Short dump data retrieved for an RFC Destination may be accessed using the Read Short Dump Data action in one or more workflows.

Retrieving Short Dump Data Immediately

To retrieve short dump data for an RFC Destination immediately, carry out the following steps:

  1. Select an RFC Destination from the Administration/RFC Destinations folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy.
  2. In the RFC Destination’s SDD tab, specify how many months of data to retain by entering a value (n) between 0 and 99 in the ‘Keep this many months of data:’ field.
  3. Click ‘Update Data’. The most recent <n> months of short dump data are retrieved, and any previous short dump data stored for the RFC Destination is overwritten.

Retrieving Short Dump Data Using a Schedule

To retrieve short dump data for an RFC Destination using a schedule, carry out the following steps:

  1. Select an RFC Destination from the Administration/RFC Destinations folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy.
  2. In the RFC Destination’s SDD tab, complete the fields in the Scheduling section as follows:
Field Description
Update SDD data according to this schedule: Select this check box to enable the schedule, or clear the check box to disable it. A schedule may not be modified unless it is enabled.
Run at daily this time: Enter a run time for the schedule.
Keep this many months of data: Enter a value (n) between 0 and 99 to specify how many months of data to retain. When the schedule runs, the most recent <n> months of short dump data is retrieved, and any previous short dump data stored for the RFC Destination is overwritten.
  1. Click ‘Save Schedule’ to save the schedule.

Deleting Short Dump Data

To delete the short dump data retrieved for an RFC Destination, click ‘Delete’ data in the RFC Destination’s SDD tab. A confirmation dialog is displayed.

Data Summary

The SDD tab’s Data Summary section lists the number of short dump header and detail data available to LiveCompare, the time when the short dump data was updated, the start date for the retrieval of the data, and the number of months of data requested.

The scheduling details and the short dump data retrieved in the SDD tab are associated with the RFC Destination, and not with a particular LiveCompare user. If a user updates or deletes the retrieved data or modifies the schedule, the changes will be reflected for all users who have access to the RFC Destination.
