Essential LiveCompare Configuration
The final stage of the installation involves several essential application configuration steps including:
Licensing LiveCompare
LiveCompare requires a software license in order to allow Apps, workflows and workflow actions to be run. Note that if LiveCompare is installed on a machine that does not already have a LiveCompare license, a license key that runs for 30 days will be installed automatically. Please see the LiveCompare Licensing help topic for details on how to check your license status, request a license and install a license key.
Integrating LiveCompare with your Email System
LiveCompare must be integrated into your email system for several features to work including:
-
Support for password reset by users.
-
Notifications.
-
The Send Email action.
To configure LiveCompare with the settings for your mail server, log in as a user with Administrator privileges and carry out the following steps:
-
Select the Administration > Configuration > Email folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy. The following screen is displayed.
-
Complete the screen fields as follows. Check with your Email Administrator to determine the correct values to use.
Field | Description |
---|---|
SMTPServer | The hostname or IP address of the SMTP server that LiveCompare will use to send emails. |
SMTPPort | The port on the SMTP server that LiveCompare will use to send emails. Leave this field blank to use the default value of 25. |
SMTPUsername | The username LiveCompare will use to authenticate with the SMTP server when sending emails. The email server must be configured to allow this account to send emails using an external program. Please check with your network administrator to determine the appropriate settings |
SMTPPassword | The password LiveCompare will use to authenticate with the SMTP server when sending emails. Leave this field blank if no user-based authentication is required. |
EmailFromAddress |
The email address to be used by LiveCompare when sending emails from the Apps user interface. This setting is used by the Test Email feature described below, however it is not used by the Send Email action, for which the ‘From’ address must be specified separately. The email server must be configured to allow the EmailFromAddress to send emails using an external program. Please check with your network administrator to determine the appropriate settings. |
DisableAppNotifications | Set this field to ‘X’ to prevent LiveCompare from sending an email when an App run completes (with either success or failure). If this field is blank, a notification email will be sent to each user who runs an App. |
-
Click ‘Save’, and use the Test Email panel to send a test email from LiveCompare.
