RFC Performance

This workflow performs a number of diagnostic tests for each of the RFC Destinations in your current project. The tests check the performance of each RFC Destination, and list their installed and missing LiveCompare transports and authorizations. Additionally, the amount of disk space available on each of the analyzed SAP server machines is reported upon (disk space information is available for systems on which LiveCompare’s ABAP Add-On has been installed). The results are stored in an Excel report which may be sent to Tricentis Technical Support for problem diagnosis or troubleshooting.

Preparing the Workflow

To prepare the RFC Performance workflow, drag its workflow template from the Templates folder into your own workspace.

To run the workflow against a subset of the available RFC Destinations:

  1. Select the RFC Destinations to test only a few parameter and choose ‘Edit Table’ from its context menu to display the Table Editor dialog.

  2. Modify the table so that it contains the name of each RFC Destination to analyze then click ‘Save’. Each of the specified RFC Destinations must be available in your current project.

Save the workflow using the ‘Save’ toolbar button.

Running the Workflow

To run the RFC Performance workflow, click the ‘Run’ toolbar button, choose ‘Run Now’ from the context menu or press F5. The currently running workflow action is marked with an animated display. When the workflow execution has completed, select a Report URL dataset and choose ‘View Details’ from the context menu to display either the RFC Performance or Special Case RFCs report.

Excel Report

The RFC Diagnostic workflow generates Excel reports, which includes the following spreadsheets:

Performance

This spreadsheet includes RFC performance metrics.

  • The PING column displays the time (in milliseconds) taken for an RFC ping test (smaller values are better).

  • The < 2MS column is set to ‘Yes’ for ping results of less than 2 milliseconds, and to ‘No’ for ping results of 2 milliseconds or greater.

  • The READ_TABLE column displays the number of sample table rows read per second (larger values are better).

  • The SCAN_CODE column displays the number ABAP statements read per second (larger values are better).

Transports

This spreadsheet lists the LiveCompare transports required on each of the RFC Destinations, and indicates whether each transport is found or missing.

Authorizations

This spreadsheet lists the SAP authorizations required on each of the RFC Destinations, and indicates whether each authorization is found, missing, or required for a particular SAP kernel or component.

Disk Space

This spreadsheet lists the disk capacity, free disk space and percentage free disk space for each drive on each of the RFC Destination servers. Disk space information is available for systems on which LiveCompare’s transports have been installed. Disk space values are displayed in MB.

Database Size

This spreadsheet lists the SAP database size, the size of the allocated database space, the SAP log size, and the size of the allocated SAP log space for each RFC Destination. The values displayed are in MB.
