Prepare Object Links Cache

This workflow creates object links cache databases on the LiveCompare server for your As-Is and To-Be SAP systems in preparation for performing an upgrade analysis using the templates in the Upgrade package.

If an Object Links Cache database does not exist for the RFC Destination, a new Object Links Cache database is created from scratch. If an Object Links Cache database already exists, it is updated to include any newly-found object dependency links. Typically, this is a much faster operation.

The workflow is called by the Run Complete Analysis upgrade template; alternatively if you are running any of the following workflows separately, the Prepare Object Links Cache workflow should be run first.

  • U.01 - Impacted Used Custom Code

  • U.03 - Unused Custom Code

  • U.04 - User Location Analysis

  • U.05 - Used Obsolete Transactions

  • U.06 - Impacted Used Standard Code

  • U.07 - New SAP Transactions

  • U.08 - Usage Report

Creating RFC Destinations

Before you begin, you will need to create RFC Destinations for your As-Is and To-Be SAP systems.

Preparing the Workflow

To prepare the Prepare Object Links Cache workflow, drag its workflow template from the Templates folder into your own workspace, and modify the workflow as follows:

To specify the Current or As-Is system:

  1. Select the System 1 (As-Is) parameter and choose ‘Edit RFC Destination’ from its context menu to display the RFC Destination dialog.

  2. Select the RFC Destination for the system to analyze, then click ‘Save’.

To specify the New or To-Be system:

  1. Select the System 2 (To-Be) parameter and choose ‘Edit RFC Destination’ from its context menu to display the RFC Destination dialog.

  2. Select the RFC Destination for the system to analyze, then click ‘Save’.

Save the workflow using the ‘Save’ toolbar button.

Running the Workflow

To run the workflow, click the 'Run' toolbar button, choose ‘Run Now’ from the diagram’s context menu, or press F5. The currently running workflow action is marked with an animated display. When the workflow execution has completed, select the COLC Result 1 and COLC Result 2 datasets and choose ‘View Details’ from the context menu to verify that either a Full Cache Update or Incremental Cache Update has been performed.
