Run Complete Analysis

This workflow runs each of the U.nn workflows from the Upgrade package in turn. It also runs a number of reporting workflows, which generate Dashboard and Excel reports relating to development, integration, security, testing and training activities. The workflow generates a Dashboard report which includes links to the Excel spreadsheets generated by the reporting workflows.

Select the Templates/Upgrade folder in the LiveCompare hierarchy to access help links for each of the Upgrade workflows.

Creating RFC Destinations

Before you begin, you will need to create RFC Destinations for the As-Is and To-Be SAP systems, and for the system from which to retrieve performance history data.

In the LiveCompare hierarchy, select the RFC Destination from which to retrieve performance history data, and click the PHD tab. Enter a value (n) in the ‘Keep this many months of data:’ field, and click ‘Update Data’ to download the most recent <n> months of performance history data. You may also specify a schedule so that the available performance history data is downloaded at regular intervals. See the Retrieving Performance History Data help topic for details.

Preparing the Workflow

To prepare the Run Complete Analysis workflow, log in as a LiveCompare Editor and drag its workflow template from the Templates folder into your own workspace. Then modify the workflow as follows:

To specify the Current or As-Is system:

  1. Select the System 1 (As-Is) parameter and choose ‘Edit RFC Destination’ from its context menu to display the RFC Destination dialog.

  2. Select the RFC Destination for the system to analyze, then click ‘Save’.

To specify the New or To-Be system:

  1. Select the System 2 (To-Be) parameter and choose ‘Edit RFC Destination’ from its context menu to display the RFC Destination dialog.

  2. Select the RFC Destination for the system to analyze, then click ‘Save’.

To specify the system from which to retrieve performance history data:

  1. Select the System 3 (Performance History) parameter and choose ‘Edit RFC Destination’ from its context menu to display the RFC Destination dialog.

  2. Select the appropriate RFC Destination, then click ‘Save’.

Note that these settings are used in place of any RFC Destinations set in the Upgrade Analysis workflows to be called.

To specify the number of named categories to appear in ‘Top N’ Dashboard charts:

  1. Select the Number of categories parameter and view its details in the Property Editor.

  2. Enter a new numeric value for the parameter’s ‘String’ property.

To specify the scenarios, categories and rules to use in the analysis:

  1. Select the AAQ Select List parameter and choose ‘Edit AAQ Select List’ from its context menu to display the AAQ Select List dialog. The Upgrade scenario is selected by default.

  2. Select one or scenarios, categories and rules from the hierarchy, then click ‘Save’.

Save the workflow using the ‘Save’ toolbar button.

Running the Workflow

To run the workflow, click the 'Run' toolbar button, choose ‘Run Now’ from the diagram’s context menu, or press F5. The currently running workflow action is marked with an animated display. When the workflow execution has completed, select either of the Report URL datasets and choose 'View Details' from the context menu to access the generated report.

Dashboard Reports

The Run Complete Analysis workflow generates the following Dashboard reports. To display a Dashboard report, select a Report URL dataset and choose 'View Details' from the context menu.

Upgrade Analysis

This report includes the following charts:

  • The User Location - Top N Transactions by Account pie chart displays the top N most used transactions, according to the available performance history data. The remaining used transactions are stored in the ‘Other’ category. The value for N is set in the workflow’s Number of categories parameter.

  • The New SAP Transactions - Top N Application Areas pie chart displays the top N application areas containing transactions on the To-Be system that do not exist on the As-Is system. The remaining application areas are stored in the ‘Other’ category. The value for N is set in the workflow’s Number of categories parameter.

  • The Unicode Check - Top N Errors by Type pie chart displays the top N Unicode syntax errors according to their error types. The remaining error types are stored in the ‘Other’ category. The value for N is set in the workflow’s Number of categories parameter.

The Upgrade Analysis Dashboard Report also includes links to the following reports:
