Which Jira Permissions Are Required to Set Up a Connection?

To set up a successful integration with Jira for Defects and Requirements, the required Jira permissions depend on whether you are connecting to Jira Cloud or Jira Server. Jira permissions are managed in Jira. For more information about managing permissions in Jira, refer to Managing permissions on the Atlassian support website.

We recommend you use one Jira account for setting up integration with qTest. You can use a service account to prevent integration from being tied to an individual user.
Activating Jira Service Desk can affect allocated Jira permissions.

Function Permissions

Jira Server required permissions

To connect to Jira Server, you must have the following permissions.

The "Create Issues" issue permission and the "Browse projects" project permission are granted by default to users with the "Administer projects" project permission. However, these permissions can be changed, so verify that the account has both the "Create Issues" issue permission and the "Browse projects" project permission even if it is already granted the "Administer projects" project permission.
