TestData - Create & provide new item

Tricentis Test Automation for SAP Test Data Service enables you to create items and group them by types in your database. This allows you to quickly identify and retrieve the right test data.

In case security is enabled, the functionality described on this page may be restricted depending on the user groups you belong to. To set your access rights, contact your Administrator.

You can create an item via the Module TestData - Create & provide new item.

This Module is part of the Standard subset. You can find it under Standard modules->Test Data Management->Test Data Service.

Example

The following example shows how to add a new item to your database. To do so, follow the steps below: 

1. Complete the steps as described in see chapter "The prerequisite steps for TestData Modules".

2. Create a new TestCase and drag and drop the Module TestData - Create & provide new item onto the Sample TestCase Using TDS TestCase (see chapter "Create TestSteps from Modules"). Tricentis Test Automation for SAP automatically creates a new TestStep with the XTestStepValues Existing or new TDS type, Alias name (item) and Data structure.

3. Add the item to your database by entering a Value for Existing or new TDS type.

The TDS type name is not allowed to contain the following characters: / ? # [ ] @ ! $ & ' ( ) * + , ; = \ :

4. Define item data underneath the Data Structure XTestStepValue. Only insert the data you really need to find the right item later. When you run the TestCase, Tricentis Test Automation for SAP creates an item with the type car and the defined XTestStepValues make, fuel, seats, performance, dateofmanufacture, price and mileage.
