Get started

In this chapter, you will find step by step instructions for working with Tricentis TDM Studio. It contains a number of example cases which increase in complexity from case to case.

The examples are structured as follows:

  1. First, it is briefly outlined which aspects of Tricentis TDM Studio the example highlights.

  2. This is followed by a short description of the scenario which serves as an introduction to the program for which the test data are to be generated and to the environment in which the program is used.

  3. Next, there is a short summary of the specific requirements with regard to the test data.

  4. Then, the scenarios are described for which test data have to be provided.

  5. The final section then covers the implementation in Tricentis TDM Studio that generated the required test data.

When working through these examples, you should not let the sometimes complex templates worry you. While the individual sections do contain references to more detailed information, the object of this chapter is to learn how to use the application, not the script language used in Tricentis TDM Studio. An introduction to the Tricentis TDM Studio script language follows in chapter "Introduction to the TDM Studio Scripting Language".

Finally, we recommend that you work through the examples in the order that they are presented. This is because later examples build on the knowledge and skills that you have acquired in the earlier cases.

You do not have to work through all of the examples. They can be opened and edited from the Tricentis TDM Studio home page.
