Use hierarchical user groups

Administrators can organize user groups into hierarchies, which allows them to inherit permissions (see chapter " Assigning rights to user groups or users").

To do so, the EnableHierarchicalUserGroups setting must be set to True in the TOSCACommander.exe.config file.

Add user groups to other user groups

When you add a user group to another user group, the added user group automatically becomes a user group reference within the parent user group.

The All Users user group must neither contain subordinate user groups nor be a subordinated user group itself.

The following applies to Admins user groups: only users who are either part of the Admins group itself or a user group within the Admins group may assign users and user groups to the Admins group.

  1. Drag a user group onto the required parent user group in the Usermanagement tab and drop it there.

  2. The user group reference is created in the parent user group.

Example: Numbered Teams contains Team 1 and Team 2 references

Remove user groups from parent user group

You can remove a user group from another user group by deleting the user group reference. You can do this in one of two ways:

  • Select the user group reference you want to remove, and press Delete.

  • Right-click on the user group reference you want to remove and select Remove from parent Usergroup from the context menu.

Remove Team 2 user group reference from Numbered Teams parent group

The following applies to Admins user groups:

  • Only users who are either part of the Admins group itself or a user group within the Admins group may assign users and user groups to the Admins group.

  • Users in the Admins user group may only be removed by other users in the Admins user group.

These actions can also be performed in the TC-Shell (see chapter "Mark objects and drag and drop tasks").

Search for references between user groups

In order to more easily find parent user groups and referenced user groups, you can search for them using the Search all function.

To do so, right-click on a user group and select Search all->ParentUsergroups or Search all->references from the mini toolbar.
