Execute SAP Solution Manager Test Configurations
Tricentis Tosca allows you to execute Test Configurations in Normal Mode or in Debug Mode.
This chapter explains how to:
Execute TestCases in Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the default option. In this mode, the TestCase is started in SAP Solution Manager.

The application to be tested must be open before starting the test execution. |
Follow the steps below to make sure that the Test Configurations are executed in Normal Mode or to change the mode from Debug Mode to Normal Mode:

Start the SAP Solution Manager Work Center (see chapter "Access the SAP Solution Manager Work Center").

Select the Solution Documentation option.
The Solution Documentation window opens.

Select the Transaction of the Test Configuration you want to execute in Tricentis Tosca.
The Test Configuration has to be synchronized with Tricentis Tosca (see chapter "Synchronize Test Configurations in Tricentis Tosca").

Select the required Test Configuration.

Click the Execute button in the toolbar.
If enabled, SAP opens the SAP GUI Security window. Click Allow to proceed.
The Start Options - Test Configuration: <Test Configuration name> window opens in the SAP GUI.

Switch to the UI Control tab.

The Transfer Log option allows you to specify in which tool you want to open the execution results after test execution. You can choose between the following options:

Enable the Transfer Log checkbox if you want to switch to the ExecutionList in Tricentis Tosca after the execution.

Click the Execute button in the application toolbar.

If enabled, the Tosca Remote Control dialog informs you that Tricentis Tosca is ready for test automation. Click OK to proceed.
The TestCase is executed in Tosca Commander.

When the test execution has finished, click OK in the Result dialog.
The focus switches to the ExecutionList.
Open execution results in SAP Solution Manager

Deselect the Transfer Log checkbox if you want to switch to the execution log in SAP Solution Manager after the execution.

Click the Execute button in the application toolbar.
The TestCase is executed in Tosca Commander.

When the test execution has finished, the focus returns to SAP Solution Manager.
In SAP, the execution result is shown in the Log Display window. Expand the information by clicking on the arrow next to the Test Script name. The execution result is displayed under EXT_SCRIPT.
You can switch to the ExecutionList in Tricentis Tosca by clicking on the link for UNCPathToLocalLog.
Execute TestCases in Debug Mode
Tricentis Tosca can also be started in the Debug Mode. This means that the focus switches to Tricentis Tosca, but the execution does not start automatically. You can run the TestCases or ExecutionLists directly in Tosca Commander.
Follow the steps below to execute Test Configurations in Debug Mode:

Start the SAP Solution Manager Work Center (see chapter "Access the SAP Solution Manager Work Center").

Select the Solution Documentation option.
The Solution Documentation window opens.

Select the Transaction of the Test Configuration you want to execute in Tricentis Tosca.

Select the required Test Configuration.
-
Click the Execute button in the toolbar.
If enabled, SAP opens the SAP GUI Security window. Click Allow to proceed.
The Start Options - Test Configuration: <Test Configuration name> window opens in the SAP GUI.

Switch to the UI Control tab.

In the Mode for External Tool field, select D Debug Mode.
Note that Tricentis Tosca doesn't differentiate between N Normal and A With User Interface of External Tool modes.

Click the Execute button in the application toolbar.
If enabled, the Tosca Remote Control dialog opens. Click OK to proceed.
Tricentis Tosca launches and the ExecutionList is checked out.

Note that the test execution doesn't start automatically. |
Display execution logs
You can view the execution log for a Test Configuration either in Tricentis Tosca or in SAP by following the steps below:

Start the SAP Solution Manager Work Center (see chapter "Access the SAP Solution Manager Work Center").

Select the Solution Documentation option.
The Solution Documentation window opens.

Select the Transaction of the Test Configuration you want to execute in Tricentis Tosca.

Select the required Test Configuration.

Click the Display Log button in the toolbar. You can select the options below from the drop-down menu:

Test Tool Log: opens the ExecutionList for the according Test Configuration in Tricentis Tosca.
If enabled, the Tosca Remote Control dialog opens. Click OK to proceed.
You can use this option only when the Transfer Log option was checked during the test execution (see chapter "Open execution results in Tricentis Tosca").

Solution Manager Log: opens the execution log for the according Test Configuration in the SAP Solution Manager Work Center.
