Steer Edge without extension

You can steer Microsoft Edge version 44 or older without installing an extension for it.

The procedure below does not work if you use Microsoft Edge version 79 or newer. If you use Microsoft Edge version 79 or newer, you need to install the Tosca Automation Extension.

To steer Microsoft Edge without an extension, follow the steps bellow:

  1. Set the setting Scan Microsoft Edge with Internet Explorer engine to True.

  2. Scan the application you want to steer (see chapter "Create XBrowser Modules").

If you have the extension for Microsoft Edge installed, in Tosca XScan right-click the application window you want to scan and change the engine to scan your application to Html (Internet Explorer embedded).

  3. Create the test configuration parameter Browser on the level of the TestCase you want to execute.

In the Value column of the test configuration parameter enter InternetExplorer.

  4. Steer the scanned controls as described in chapter "Steer XBrowser controls".
