Scan mobile applications

With the Mobile Engine 3.0, you can create Modules from iOS and Android mobile applications. To scan a native, hybrid, or web application with the Mobile Scan, follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure that you have prepared your test environment. For detailed information, see the following chapters:

  2. Start the Mobile Scan and connect to your device.

  3. Add a mobile device, emulator, or simulator. This step is optional.

  4. Add a mobile application. This step is optional.

  5. Select controls you want to steer.

  6. Scan a different screen, application, or device. This step is optional.

  7. Configure advanced options in the Mobile Scan. This step is optional.

You can also create Modules with image-based test automation for mobile.

If you work in a multi-user workspace, the Mobile configuration node is automatically checked out when you open the Mobile Scan and automatically checked in when you close it. If you don't want the Mobile Scan to automatically check out and check in the Mobile configuration node, go to Project->Settings->TBox->Mobile30 and set the value of Auto checkout/checkin configuration to False.

When you scan or steer controls on an iOS simulator, the default version of iOS must be available on the Mac which you configured for mobile test automation.

If you want to change the version of the simulator that you use for scanning, go to Project->Settings and then go to Tbox->Engines->Mobile30->Default iOS Simulator Version.

Mobile configurations

When you add the mobile device and application in the Mobile Scan, the information on connection, device, and application is automatically saved in custom configurations. For detailed information on mobile configurations, see chapter "Use Mobile configurations".
