Perform migration with the Administration Console

Tosca Commander stores its project data in repositories. If the data structure, i.e. the schema version, changes, you need to migrate these repositories. You also need to migrate XEngines to upgrade your XModules and linked TestCases.

This chapter describes how to perform your upgrade migrations with the Tosca Administration Console. For information on how to migrate manually, see chapter "Perform migration manually".

Migrated repositories and TestCases are not downward compatible.

The Tosca Administration Console is part of the Tricentis Tosca Server. If you want to use the Tosca Administration Console for your upgrade, you need to perform the Tosca Server upgrade before you can perform the migration.

Migrate repositories and XEngines

To migrate your repositories and XEngines, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Tosca Administration Console by entering the URL http(s)://<Server Adress>/AdministrationConsole/ into your browser.

  2. Perform the migration as described in chapter "Perform migration".

Make sure to enable the checkbox Create a backup before migration? in the Migration Options dialog. If the migration fails, you must load the backup before making another migration attempt.

In this case, create a new workspace in order to connect to the migrated repository.

When you migrate your project, the Tosca Administration Console first triggers the migration of your repositories and then the XEngine migration.

If the schema version does not change, the Tosca Administration Console automatically skips the repository migration.
