Automating manual TestCases

Tosca allows existing manual TestSteps to be converted into automated TestSteps: simply drag a Module or XModule onto a manual TestStep and drop it there. All ModuleAttributes are copied to the TestStep.

If the name of a manual TestStepValue is identical to the attribute name of the assigned Module, the manual TestStepValue will be converted into an automated. Its values (Value, ActionMode and DataType) are transferred to the automated TestStepValue. The manual TestCase is converted into an automated TestCase.

Classic Module

If manual TestStepValues cannot be assigned automatically, they remain in the newly created, automated TestStep. You can then transfer these values manually (see chapter "Moving TestStepValue content").

XModule

TestStepValues that cannot be assigned can be manually assigned to XModuleAttributes in the following appearing window:

TestStepValue which cannot be assigned to an XModuleAttribute.

Only assigned TestStepValues are transferred to the automated TestStep.

In Tosca you can assign unassigned TestStepValues to XModuleAttributes, or you can change existing assignments of already assigned TestStepValues. Use drag and drop to move the TestStepValue or XModuleAttribute to the corresponding XModuleAttribute or TestStepValue.

Left click onto a TestStepValue in the left window section to highlight the assigned XModuleAttribute in the right window section, and vice versa.
