Context menus

Right-click an object to open its context menu. Tosca Commander has different types of context menu:

  • A regular context menu.

  • A mini toolbar with frequently used options. Hover over an icon in the mini toolbar to get a tooltip.

You can expand the list of available options by clicking the icon.

Context menus in Tosca Commander

General options in the mini toolbar

Depending on the object that you right-click, different options are available.

The first line of the mini toolbar contains the standard options that are always available:

Rename

Rename the selected object. Alternatively, you can press F2 or double-click the object.

Delete

Delete the selected object(s). Alternatively, you can press Del.

Search / Search all

Open the search. The search parameters depend on the selected object (see chapter "Search and modify objects").

Open the selected object in a new window.

Expand all / Collapse all

Expand or collapse objects in the tree.

  • If the selected object is located hierarchically above TestCases, Modules, or ExecutionLists, this affects all levels down to these objects.

  • If the selected object is located on the TestCases, Modules, or ExecutionLists level, this affects all levels beneath these objects.

Checkout / Checkout Tree

This option is only available in multi-user workspaces.

It allows you to checkout objects as described in chapter "Checkin and checkout objects".

General options in the context menu

Depending on the object that you right-click, different options are available.

The following options are standard options that are always available:

Copy table to clipboard

This option is available for objects in the Details view. It copies all information on the selected row, including header names.

Copy, cut, and paste objects

You can copy, cut, and paste objects via the respective context menu entries. Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts:

  • CTRL + C for copy

  • CTRL + X for cut

  • CTRL + V for paste

However, you can only copy, cut, and paste within the Object hierarchy. Tosca Commander doesn't perform inadmissible paste operations.

Jump to

You can jump from one object to another:

  • Use Jump to <object> to jump from one object to its referenced object.

For example, if you right-click a TestStep, Jump to Module lets you jump to the Module that you used to create the TestStep.

Alternatively, you can press CTRL + SHIFT + J.

  • Use Jump to Object in <superordinate object type> to jump from one object to its superordinate object type.

For example, if you right-click a TestStep, Jump to Object in TestCase lets you jump to the TestCase this TestStep belongs to.

Purge missing references

Remove broken references between objects, for instance when you back up repositories.

Broken references happen when you, for example, delete a Module that's used in a TestCase. Or when another user has added objects, but you haven't updated your workspace yet.

Reset property

You can add properties on a project level (see chapter "Specify properties").

If you changed the value of such a property for an individual object, you can reset the value back to default.

To do so, right-click the object and select Reset property-> <property name> from the context menu.
