Steer with Engines 3.0

The Tosca TBox framework is the basis for steering all Engines 3.0, for both Graphical User Interface (GUI) tests and non-GUI tests. It is built on .NET technology and provides you with additional testing functionalities, such as Business Recovery or XBrowser.

The Tosca TBox framework offers the following advantages over Classic Engines:

  • Higher performance in the creation and execution of tests.

  • One common interface for all supported technologies.

  • Easy creation of XModules and TestCases with XScan and Tosca Recorder.

  • Common dynamic expressions that behave the same way for all Engines 3.0.

  • A broader range of ActionModes.

XModules

Classic Engines use Modules to steer test objects, Engines 3.0 use XModules.

Unlike Modules, you can hierarchically structure your XModules: you can give them a tree-like structure and nest them inside each other. You can also use XModules as classes and reference them in other XModules.

The Standard subset contains XModules for Engines 3.0 as well as sample TestCases for both the XML Engine 3.0 and the JSON Engine 3.0.

Install Engines 3.0

The Tosca TBox framework and its Engines 3.0 are part of the standard Tricentis Tosca installation.

For detailed information on software versions and hardware requirements, see the system requirements.

Tosca Automation Service

Tosca Automation Service is required for automation with the XBrowser Engine. It is set up and immediately started when Tosca TBox is installed.
