Add a mobile application

When you select your device, the Mobile Scan automatically displays applications that are already installed on it. You can add other applications in the following situations:

  • When the application that you want to scan is not installed on your device.

  • When you want to customize the application name in the Mobile Scan and in mobile configurations.

  • When you want to scan a mobile web application.

To add an application in the Mobile Scan, follow the steps below:

  1. Start the Mobile Scan.

  2. Click Add app.

  1. In the subsequent Add application window, select the application type:

    • For native or hybrid applications, select Native/Hybrid.

    • For mobile web applications, select Web app.

  2. Click Continue.

  1. For a native or hybrid application, select iOS or Android. For a mobile web application, go to step 6.

  2. Into the Enter a name for your application field, enter a custom name for your application.

    The Mobile Engine 3.0 uses this name as a mobile configuration name under the node Mobile > Applications.

  3. In the Enter the full path... field, click the search icon to browse the application file or enter details about your application according to the table below.

To specify an iOS application, enter one of the following:

  • The full path to the .ipa file for an iOS device or the .app file for an iOS simulator. Use the file path to an application that is stored on your computer. Tosca will install the iOS application that you specified when you connect to your iOS device or simulator.

  • The Bundle ID of your iOS application. You can use the Bundle ID for an application that is already installed on your iOS device or simulator.

Enter the full path or PackageName/ActivityName

To specify an Android application, enter one of the following:

  • The full path to the .apk file. Use the file path to an application that is stored on your computer. Tosca will install the Android application that you specified when you connect to your Android device.

  • The Package Name of your Android application and the Activity Name for the screen of your application, separated by a slash (/). For example: com.example.myapp/com.example.myapp.MainActivity. You can use the Package Name and Activity Name for an application that is already installed on your Android device or emulator.

Enter the URL

Enter the URL of the mobile website you want to scan.

  1. Click Add.

    This adds the application to the list shown in the Mobile Scan. You can remove it by clicking the Delete icon on the respective tile.
