Install Tosca OSV

This chapter gives an overview of the Tosca OSV installation.

Installation prerequisites

To install and work with Tosca OSV, you must fulfill the following requirements:

Installation process

The Tosca OSV Installer helps you to install Tosca OSV. To complete the installation process, perform the following steps:

  1. Install Tosca OSV and its prerequisites.

  2. Specify whether you want to install a Tosca OSV Host on your local hard drive or not.

  3. If you want to use OSV in Tosca Commander, enable the Tosca OSV AddIn.

    If you don't have Tricentis Tosca installed, you can skip this step and launch OSV in standalone mode by double-clicking the file Tricentis.OSV.Monitor.exe .

Alternatively, you can install Tosca OSV in silent mode as described in chapter "Perform an unattended installation".

Perform the installation process

To install Tosca OSV, follow the steps below:

  1. Unzip the contents of the installation file Tosca_OSV_<version>.zip.

  2. Double-click the file OSV<version>.exe, which is part of the installation package. This opens the Tosca OSV Installer that guides you through the installation process.

  3. In the Tosca OSV Installer, click Next and follow the instructions to:

Install Tosca OSV features

The Tosca OSV Installer installs the following OSV features on your local hard drive by default:

  • Common Files that OSV needs to run.

  • Monitor which refers to the OSV Monitor, your central place to manage service virtualization.

  • Examples for OSV customizations.

Install Tosca OSV Host

The Tosca OSV Installer allows you to specify whether you want to install a Tosca OSV Host on your local hard drive or not.

For example, you don't need to install a host locally if you have one on another machine.

To select your installation preference, follow the steps below:

  1. In the Custom Setup screen, click on Host.

  2. Select your preferred installation from the drop-down menu:

    • Will be installed on local hard drive allows you to install an OSV Host locally.

    • Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive allows you to install the entire feature locally.

    • Entire feature will be unavailable if you don't want to install an OSV Host.

Tosca OSV Host installation

After the installation, you can launch your OSV Host by double-clicking the OSV Host icon on your desktop. The OSV tray icon is now displayed in the task bar.

Enable Tosca OSV Diagnostics

With Tosca OSV Diagnostics, you can help improve Tricentis Tosca by sending anonymous usage statistics.

To enable Tosca OSV Diagnostics, select the check box.

Enable the Tosca OSV AddIn

The OSV AddIn is part of the Tricentis Tosca standard installation. To use the OSV AddIn, make sure of the following:

  • You have installed Tricentis Tosca.

  • You have enabled the OSV AddIn in the Tosca Commander Options under Options->OSV AddIn.

Restart Tosca to activate the AddIn and allow for a license check.

Perform an unattended installation

You can install Tosca OSV in silent mode via command line parameters. Silent installation does not require any user interaction.

To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Unzip the installation package.

  2. Go to the installation folder and enter the following command at the command line:

    OSV<version>.exe /quiet <MSI commands>

    • /quiet specifies silent mode.

    • Replace <MSI commands> with one or more of the commands in the list below.

INSTALLLEVEL

Installs Tosca OSV in silent mode.

Use the parameter INSTALLLEVEL=1 to install the OSV Monitor. Use the parameter INSTALLLEVEL=2 to install the OSV Monitor and OSV Host.

Default: INSTALLLEVEL=2

DIAGNOSTICSCONSENT

Enables or disables Tosca OSV Diagnostics.

Use the parameter DIAGNOSTICSCONSENT=1 to enable Tosca OSV Diagnostics and DIAGNOSTICSCONSENT=0 to disable it.

Default: DIAGNOSTICSCONSENT=1

Silent installation of Tosca OSV and OSV Host

Maintain the Tosca OSV installation

You can change or uninstall the Tosca OSV installation via the Windows Control Panel:

  1. Go to the Windows start menu and select Settings->Apps. This opens a list of all installed programs.

  2. In the list, click Tosca OSV.

  3. Click the button Modify or Uninstall.

Access Tosca OSV REST API documentation

Use the following endpoint to access the Tosca OSV REST API documentation: http://<ip>:<port>/swagger/index.html.

Replace <ip> with the IP address and <port> with the port of the Tosca OSV Host, for example http://localhost:18080/swagger/index.html.

Paths

All specified paths refer to a default installation on drive C:\ with the default paths recommended by Tricentis:

  • Tosca OSV program files: C:\Program Files\TRICENTIS\Tosca OSV or C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca OSV.

  • Tosca Commander project files: %TRICENTIS_PROJECTS% or C:\Tosca_Projects\.
