Calculation example for Coverage Specified (%)
This example takes you through the process of calculating Coverage Specified (%). The calculation is based on the Relative Weight and the WorkState of the linked TestCases.
To understand how Coverage Specified (%) is calculated, follow the steps below:
-
Create a new Requirement that contains four TestCase Links.
-
Weight the links with 4, 3, 2, and 1 as shown below:
Example weights
Tricentis Tosca automatically calculates the Relative Weight.
-
Link three TestCases with the following WorkStates to the first three TestCase Links:
-
TestCase 1, PLANNED
-
TestCase 2, IN_WORK
-
TestCase 3, COMPLETED
-
To determine the Coverage Specified (%), Tricentis Tosca multiplies the Relative Weights by the TestCase WorkStates as follows:
TestCase Name |
Relative Weight |
WorkState |
Coverage |
---|---|---|---|
TestCase 1 |
40% |
PLANNED = 0.2 |
0.4*0.2 = .08 |
TestCase 2 |
30% |
IN_WORK = 0.5 |
0.3*0.5 = .15 |
TestCase 3 |
20% |
COMPLETED = 1.0 |
0.2*1.0 = .20 |
|
|
SUM |
0.43 |
|
|
Percentage (*100) |
43% |
Tosca Commander displays the coverage in yellow in the Coverage Specified (%) column. The missing coverage is displayed in white.
