Upgrade Tosca Extensions

This chapter contains information on how to upgrade Tricentis Tosca Extensions from version 15.2 LTS to version 16.0 LTS.

Tricentis Data Integrity

With Tosca 16.0, we've discontinued Web Hadoop File Systems (WebHDFS) support. This means you can't use WebHDFS as a source or target in reconciliation tests. If you have reconciliation tests where you use WebHDFS as a source or target, you need to update these tests.

To migrate your Row by Row Comparison Module and update your tests, follow these steps:

  1. After the upgrade to Tosca 16.0, import the latest version of the Data Integrity subset.

  2. Right-click the old Row by Row Comparison Module and select Tosca DI Migration > Update module to current version from the context menu. If you have multiple Row by Row Comparison Modules, you need to migrate each Module separately.

  3. In the subsequent dialog, choose whether to create a backup or not. We recommend that you do.

  4. In the next dialog, select Yes to start the migration. Tosca then performs the following actions:

    • It creates a copy of your Row by Row Comparison Module. This copy is the 16.0 version, without WebHDFS. The copy keeps all other changes that you made to your old Module, for instance modified default values for non-WebHDFS ModuleAttributes.

    • It creates a copy of all TestSteps that you created from the old Module and links them to the copy of the Module. Tosca removes the WebHDFS TestStepValues from the TestStep copies, but keeps all other values intact.

    • It deactivates all original TestSteps that you created from the old Row by Row Comparison Module.

    • It adds (WebHDFS deprecated) to the name of the old Module and its connected TestSteps.

Row by Row Comparison objects after the migration

  1. Go through all TestStep copies and define a new source and/or target for each of them. We recommend that you use Rclone instead of WebHDFS.

  2. Remove the deactivated TestSteps and the old Module.

Tosca Connect

To enable the communication between Tosca Commander and Tosca Connect, Tosca Commander and the Tosca REST API Service must use the same version.

If you upgrade Tosca Commander, you also have to upgrade the Tosca Server, which contains the Tosca REST API Service.

To ensure full functionality, use Tosca Connect 17.3.3 or higher.

For information on how to upgrade Tosca Connect, see this Tricentis Knowledge Base article.

Tosca Continuous Integration

To upgrade Tosca Continuous Integration, follow the steps below:

  1. If you have changed any default values in your configuration files, create a backup of those files. During the upgrade, Tricentis Tosca overwrites the existing files in your standard installation folders.

For detailed information on configuration files, see the respective sections in the Tricentis Tosca Manual:

  2. Update the new configuration files with information from your backups.

Do not replace the version 16.0 LTS configuration files with your backup files.

Tosca Orchestrated Service Virtualization

To upgrade Tosca OSV, follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure that you have upgraded Tosca Commander. Tosca Orchestrated Service Virtualization (OSV) and Tosca Commander must use the same version.

  2. Backup your databases if you need the information of your previous virtualizations (optional).

  3. Reinstall Tosca Orchestrated Service Virtualization as described in chapter "Install Tosca OSV".

  4. Manage your licenses in the OSV Monitor via Environment->Account as described in chapter "License management".

  5. In the Tosca OSV Monitor, clear the database for each OSV Environment in the Edit Environment window by using the option Create Database. This is necessary because Tosca OSV does not work with database schemes of previous versions.

  6. Transfer the Scenarios to your OSV Environment as described in chapter "Transfer Scenarios".
