RPA Studio on Windows Server 2016

RPA Studio supports a full client installation on Windows Server 2016.

However, in multi-user environments, you need to ensure that users don't overwrite important information that other users have defined for their own workspaces:

  • Any changes that a user makes to settings should apply to their settings only

  • Buffers, if you want to use the same Buffers, but with different values for each workspace

Users need to save all modified settings and Buffers to the local workspace settings file: WorkspaceSettings.xml

Save settings

RPA Studio stores information in various settings files.

To save settings to the local workspace settings file, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the settings dialog at Project > Settings and navigate to the setting you want to change.

  2. To see where RPA Studio saves this particular setting, add the column Settings File with the following steps:

    • Right-click into the header line and select Column Chooser from the context menu.

    • In the subsequent window, double-click on Settings File.

Open the Column Chooser

  1. If the Settings File column indicates that this setting is written to WorkspaceSettings.xml, you can change your setting and close the settings dialog.

If the Settings File displays a different file, continue with step 4.

  2. Right-click the setting and select Override from the context menu.

  3. In the subsequent Override Setting dialog, perform the following actions:

    • Enter a new value for your setting into the Value field.

    • Select the WorkspaceSettings.xml file from the Save in drop-down menu.

    • Click OK to confirm.

Save the setting Target decimal character to WorkspaceSettings.xml

Save Buffers

To save Buffers to the local workspace settings file, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Project > Settings > Engine.

  2. Right-click Buffer and select Override from the context menu.

Open the Override Setting dialog

  1. In the subsequent Override Setting dialog, select the WorkspaceSettings.xml file from the Save in drop-down menu.

  2. Click OK to confirm.
