Add Test Runs Based on Linked Defects

Using the Add Test Runs dialog, you can manually add Test Runs based on linked Defects that are associated with previously executed Test Runs. This option can be useful when retesting Defects after the Defects have been fixed.

Adding a Test Run based on a linked Defect creates a new Test Run with its own execution history. If you wish to add to the execution history of an existing Test Run, you can drag and drop the Test Run into the new Test Suite. For more information about moving objects, refer to Copy and Move Objects in Manager.
You cannot add Test Runs to objects that are linked to objects in Tosca.

To add a Test Run based on a linked Defect:

  1. Click the Test Execution tab.

  2. In the tree panel, select an object to add a Test Run to, such as a Test Cycle or a Test Suite.

  3. Click the Add Test Runs icon in the toolbar.

The Add Test Runs dialog appears.

  4. Click the Defects tab.

  5. Select the check box for the Defect that you want to add a Test Run for.

You can also select all listed Defects by selecting the check box at the top of the check box column.

  6. (Optional) Select export settings, as needed. For more information about the settings available on the Add Test Runs dialog, refer to Export settings.

  7. Click Add.

The Add Test Runs dialog closes, and a message indicating that the Test Run has been successfully added appears.

If you add a Test Run to a Test Cycle or Test Suite, the Test Run inherits the properties of the Test Cycle or Test Suite at the time the Test Run is added. If you update the property of the Test Suite or Test Cycle after the Test Run has been added, the Test Run properties must be updated manually.
