Manager 2023.6 Release Notes

November 1, 2023

With Manager 2023.6, we've provided several updates to improve your experience as you review, edit, and manage your tests. This includes more control over how you share test cases and view defects, enhancements to the import and export functions, and additional traceability with Vera. We've also added security enhancements and bug fixes to improve your overall qTest experience.

Enable or disable selective test case sharing

To give you more control over how you manage your shared test case list, we've added the option to enable or disable selective test case sharing.

Disable this option to automatically share existing shared test cases with all allowed projects added in Test Case Settings. With this setting disabled, you won't need to revisit each individual shared test case whenever you add a new project.

Enable selective test sharing if you want more control over how your shared test cases are distributed. With this option enabled, you can individually choose to share— or not share— your existing shared test cases with a new project.

Choose how to view defects

Choose how you want to review your defects with our new option in the Defect Workflow Settings window.

Enable Edit Defects in Split Screen to view your defects in a pop-up window without leaving the defect table. If you don't, defects open in a new window or tab.

Import parameters

Now, whenever you export test cases that contain parameters, the parameters no longer convert to plain text. That means you can export and import your test cases without losing any of the parameters you've added to your tests.

Additional traceability for Vera integration

To maximize your testing records in Vera, we've added more traceability to our Vera integration. Now, Vera stores your test cases with their linked test plans and requirements by version, letting you review your testing history with ease.

New API Call

Use the new GET Test Runs for Requirement ID API call to retrieve test runs attached to a requirement. This API call also includes a boolean parameter to return the last execution log, as well as the optional parameter to return associated test cases and test steps for queried test runs.

We also added fields to filter by test run status, test run type, environment, and the tester who performed the test run.

Security updates

We performed some background changes to improve the overall security of qTest Manager.

Known issues

Get Test Runs for Requirement ID ignores new test cases

When Tracking Test Case - Requirement Link per Test Case Version is turned on for the Get Test Runs for Requirement ID API call, the call doesn't return newer versions of test cases.

Defects linked to a test run don't display

If you're on the Test Execution tab and use an existing defect to create a new defect linked to a test run, the defect doesn't display. To view it, select Save & Close, instead of individually selecting Save and then Close. Alternatively, if you selected Save and then Close individually, refresh the view to see the defect.

Fields display incorrectly on defect

When Edit defect in split screen is turned on, if you open one defect and then select a second defect without closing the first, the fields don't display properly. Before you select the second defect, either select Close on the first defect or refresh the page to view the fields correctly on the second one.

Can't create bug from Quick Run

Whenever you perform a Quick Run, you must first close the Test Run Quick Run window to use the Legacy Defect Screen to create a bug in an integrated system, such as Jira.

Clear all button doesn't work on users assigned to a requirement

On the Requirements tab, the Clear all button on the Assigned To dropdown does not deselect selected assignees. To deselect all selected assignees from a requirement, select Clear all, click anywhere outside of the Assigned To field, and then save the requirement.

Touchscreen-specific issues

Using a touchscreen laptop can cause usability issues with the 2023.6 SaaS version of qTest. As a workaround for any of the issues below, please disable touchscreen.

The following errors can occur on touchscreen laptops:

  • Users can't select any objects in the Recycle Bin.

  • Users can't select any Data Query results.

  • Whenever a newly created object displays in Notifications, users can't select the notification link to navigate to the object.

  • On the Test Design tab, the Rich Text Editor icon doesn't display when users add a new test step.
