Session Management

Session Management in qTest is based upon the license type purchased, either concurrent or named. These license types both follow the rule of a maximum of 3 active Web sessions per user. However, API sessions do not count towards these sessions, meaning the user is logged in using an API or from Desktop Explorer or Web Explorer.

Active Sessions

  • Opening qTest in multiple tabs of the same web browser, counts as the same session

  • Logging in to qTest using the same credentials on different web browsers, counts as different sessions

  • Logging in to qTest using the same credentials on different computers, counts as different sessions

  • Logging in to qTest using a web browser and API, counts as different sessions

Closing the browser or browser tab does not terminate the session. To terminate the session the user must manually log out of qTest.

Terminate Session

After reaching the session limit, users are not allowed to log in to qTest. When the user's session limit is reached, the Terminate Sessions modal dialog displays and allows the user to manually terminate their own sessions, by selecting the red X icon and allow the user to log into qTest.

Site Admin Session Management

Site Admins can view and manually terminate users active sessions. Site Admins can also configure the system to automatically terminate user sessions that have been idle for a specified amount of time. This functionality is located on the Licenses and Users page in qTest.
