Upgrade Test Automation Server for SAP and its features

This chapter contains information on how to upgrade the Tricentis Test Automation Server for SAP and all its features from version 13.4 to version 14.2.

Preparatory steps

Before you upgrade the Test Automation Server for SAP, you need to create backup files for the Test Automation Server for SAP features that you use.

Once you start the upgrade, the installation removes all user defined settings. You can refer to your backup files to re-configure your settings during the installation.

Test Automation for SAP Administration Console (includes Tricentis User Administration)

If you use Test Automation for SAP Administration Console, create a backup of the Test Automation for SAP Administration Console appsettings.json file.

The file is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\ToscaAdministrationConsole.

For information on how to back up and restore Tricentis Test Automation for SAP Authentication Service, see chapter "Back up and restore Tricentis Test Automation for SAP Authentication Service".

Tricentis Test Data Service

If you use Tricentis Test Data Service, create a backup of the Tricentis Test Data Service appsettings.json file.

The file is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\TRICENTIS\Tosca Server\TestDataService.

Upgrade Test Automation Server for SAP

To upgrade the Test Automation Server for SAP, follow the steps below:

  1. Uninstall the old version of Test Automation Server for SAP. This also removes user defined settings.

  2. Start the Test Automation Server for SAP upgrade by executing the server setup file.

  3. Follow the installation process described in chapter "Install Test Automation Server for SAP via setup dialog".

You can refer to your backup files to configure your settings during the installation.

On systems using IIS 7.5, the operating system will be restarted during the installation.

If you encounter unexpected behavior in a Tricentis Test Automation Server for SAP feature after the upgrade, compare the backed up Web.config or appsettings.json file of the respective feature with the upgraded version.

Do not replace the version 14.2 Web.config or appsettings.json files with your backup files.
