Output

By default, the Output window lists all program activities. It is automatically displayed and optionally pinned to the foreground after data have been generated.

During a data generation or a syntax check, the Output window displays messages with a trace level Information (default level). The Output window can also display message with higher trace levels. Trace levels can be set in the Options dialog (see chapter "Generation / Tracing").

Since the output of text in a graphical user interface is time-intensive, it can happen that messages are issued after the activity that they refer to has already been completed. In order to reduce this effect, the output of messages may be suppressed.

In this case, you will a message such as "… n messages discarded". This message is issued at the most critical trace level of the summarized messages.

Example:

ERROR: … 4 messages discarded.

This means that 4 messages have not been displayed (for the reasons given above) and that these contained at least one error message.

Regardless of what is displayed in the Output window, all messages will always be written to the configured log file, provided that they meet the trace level that is set in in the Options dialog.
