Record interactions

Tricentis Tosca allows you to record mouse and keyboard interactions that are performed during exploratory testing. These interactions are recorded independently of the technology used.

Interactions recording creates a narrative of your test actions, allowing you to integrate your test ideas and found bugs into your manual or automated regression test portfolio. You can use it for example when a certain scenario needs to be tested several times.

  • Each interaction is recorded with a TestStep, TestStepValue and design screenshot.

  • The name of the TestStep indicates the application you are using, whereas the TestStepValue name indicates the type of interaction performed, e.g. a click operation or input of data.

  • Design screenshots are made on the step level and they include annotations that describe your interactions visually.

You can set a limit for recorded steps while recording user interactions, so that you can keep track of your scenarios and save memory space, e.g. only keep the last 100 steps you recorded.

Please make sure to enable the option Smaller - 100% (default) at Start->Control Panel->Display in order to accurately record interactions.

To start capturing your interactions for scenarios, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Exploratory Scenario in the Tosca Commander Home menu, or click on the Interactions icon in the Scenario Manager.
