Example - Create report

This chapter provides you with an example of how to modify an existing report using the Report Designer in the Reporting section of Tricentis Tosca.

The Report Designer is third party software from List & Label (see List & Label® manual).

Tricentis recommends that you import and modify an existing report rather than creating one from scratch. This example uses a Tosca 10.3 subset, which can also be imported to later Tosca versions.

Preconditions

• A Tosca Commander workspace with Modules and TestCases is available.

• You have downloaded the file Tosca_10.3_Documentation.zip from the Tricentis Support Portal. In the AddIns folder of this file, you can find the subset Documentation_TestCase_Report.tce which you need for this example.

Task

Import a TestCase report, which includes a Tricentis logo and the word Tricentis in the header. The steps below show you how to modify this image and text.

Modify image

To change the Tricentis logo in the report to another image, follow the steps below:

1. Import the subset Documentation_TestCase_Report.tce to the Tosca Commander workspace (see chapter "Import and export subsets").

2. In the Reporting section, right-click on the Report Definition named TestCase Report and select Design Report ... from the context menu. This opens the Report Designer window.

3. Right-click on the Tricentis logo in the top right corner, and select Contents from the context menu.

 

4. In the subsequent browser window, select an image file to replace the Tricentis logo. Make sure the Embed picture in project file checkbox is activated.

5. To apply the selection, click Open.

You can change the size and position of the image by manipulating the anchor points of the image with your mouse, or by modifying the settings of the object type preview (see the third party List & Label® manual).

Modify header text

To change the Tricentis header text in the top left corner of the report, follow the steps below.

1. Right-click on the text field, and select Contents from the context menu. The Paragraph Properties window opens.

2. Double-click on the Tricentis text in the text field to open the Edit Text window.

3. The Data and Functions tab displays the text as a string: "Tricentis¶¶". You can change it to your desired text.

4. To confirm the changes in the Edit Text window, click OK.

5. Then confirm the changes in the Paragraph Properties window by clicking OK.

6. Click the icon in the top left corner of the Report Designer window to save your changes.

7. Close Report Designer.

You can now apply the modified Report Definition to every TestCase and TestCase Folder via the context menu entry Print Report ...->TestCase Report (see chapter "Print reports").
