Simple Search
Enable the simple search function via the Simple Search button. In addition, settings and modify options can be shown by clicking on the button left of Settings and Modify.
Enter the search term into this field. This can for instance be the name of a TestCase or the value of a TestStepValue.
Settings for the search query
The settings determine which object properties (name, description, properties and values) are included in the search. The settings also define how the search should be performed.
Setting |
Description |
Object type |
The search is performed via the object type selected in a drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can move an object to the Search button by using drag and drop. The selection is then limited to this object type and its subordinate objects. |
Attributes |
The search is applied to the values of all freely definable attributes (see chapter "Specify properties"). You can select one or more attributes from the drop-down menu. The number of available attributes depends on the selected object type. |
Ignore case |
Upper/lower cases are ignored during the search query. |
Whole text |
The complete expression entered in the search field is searched for. Partial matches are not displayed. |
Use Regular Expression |
Allows the use of regular expressions. |
Which object types and attributes are available for selection in the Settings depends on the "Search mode" option.
Editing the search results
If you press the Alt key and if you click or double-click on an object in the search results, the system automatically jumps to the corresponding object in the workspace.
You can also edit the search results directly in the results section: simply right-click onto an object to select object-specific options from the context menu. You can also left-click on the object and select the object-specific options from the dynamic menu.
Copying values from the search window
If you click on a search result, and if you then click again into the required column, the value will be marked and copied to this column by using the shortcut Ctrl + C.
Saving search results as virtual folders
The search result can be saved as a virtual folder using the button (see chapter "Save queries to virtual folders"). The virtual folder is created beneath the folder from which the query has been started. The button is enabled only after the query has been performed via the Search button.
