Exporting a Story

Overview

You can export a story as a PowerPoint presentation or a PDF file. The story will be exported with the selection states used to create the story. Any selections applied while playing the story are ignored.

This feature is not available on mobile devices.
You cannot export a story to a PDF file or a PowerPoint presentation from a published app in your personal cloud (Qlik Sense Cloud Basic). Unpublish the app to export.

Exporting as a PowerPoint presentation

You can create a PowerPoint presentation from a story, using the data storytelling feature. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the story that you want to export.

  2. Select the Menu icon, and then select Export story to PowerPoint.

  3. The PowerPoint settings dialog appears. If you want to change the default Slide size and Resolution (dots per inch), make selections from the two drop-down lists. The bottom line of the dialog shows the result of your settings.

  4. Select Export.

  5. When the PowerPoint presentation is ready, a link will appear in the dialog. Select this link.

    The presentation will be downloaded to the default download location for your browser.

  6. Select Cancel to close the dialog.

Pre-configured PowerPoint slide sizes

By default, the exported presentation will have a slide size of 960 by 540 pixels with a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, and a resolution of 220 dpi (dots per inch).

You can choose from three pre-configured slide sizes and aspect ratios for your PowerPoint slides. A custom option is also available. These are the pre-configured slide sizes:

Three resolutions are available: 220, 150, and 96 dpi.

Exporting as a PDF

You can export a story as a PDF, using the data storytelling feature.

Do the following:

  1. Open the story that you want to export.

  2. Select the Menu icon. Choose Export Story to PDF from the drop-down menu. The "PDF Settings" dialog appears.

  3. Set your PDF settings accordingly.

  4. Select Export. When the PDF presentation is ready, a link will appear in the dialog.

  5. Select that link to download your PDF.

    The presentation will be downloaded to the default download location for your browser.

  6. Select Cancel to close the dialog.
