Admin Guide

This chapter contains all information that administrators need to install and set up Tricentis RPA Orchestrator for users.

Required RPA Orchestrator environment

Tricentis RPA Orchestrator requires three main components (see "How Tricentis RPA works"):

  • The server that holds RPA Orchestrator and hosts RPA Cockpit, its user interface.

  • The Agent machines that run your Bots.

  • The MS SQL Server database that saves your Bots and their results.

Additionally, RPA Orchestrator also communicates with RPA Studio.

You provide all components of the environment: server, Agent machines, and MS SQL Server database.

Install and set up RPA Orchestrator

To install and set up RPA Orchestrator for users, you need to perform two main actions:

  • Perform the installation process.

  • Manage RPA Orchestrator users.

Perform the installation process

To install RPA Orchestrator, follow the steps below:

  1. Check the system requirements to ensure that you have the necessary hardware and software to run RPA Orchestrator.

  2. Go through the environment checklist to ensure that you have properly prepared your environment for the installation of RPA Orchestrator.

  3. Install RPA Orchestrator. You can choose from the following installation options:

Manage users

To govern access to RPA Orchestrator and manage users, follow the steps below:

  1. Access user management, so you can add users and groups.

  2. Optionally, specify user password requirements.

  3. Add users. You can add users in one of the following ways:

    • Allow self-registration. This is the default option.

    • Specify an invite-only registration workflow.

    • Synchronize with Active Directory.

  4. Create user groups.

Only registered users that you assign to a group have access to RPA Orchestrator.

This step is not necessary if you synchronize with Active Directory. In this case, you get your groups from Active Directory. You can create additional groups if you want to.

  5. Assign users to groups.

This step is not necessary if you use Active Directory. In this case, your groups already have assigned users. You can assign users to different or new groups if you want to.

  6. Assign user groups to Bots.

Administrators determine who is allowed to handle which Bot in RPA Orchestrator. Users can only view, run, or check Bots that they have been assigned to.

  7. Grant publishing rights to user groups. Only users with publishing rights can publish Bots in RPA Studio.
