Create and remove users and user groups

As an admin, you can create users and user groups in Tosca Commander or remove them.

To do so, you need to access the Usermanagement tab.

Create user groups

If there are many users in your multi-user environment, Tricentis recommends that you create user groups to keep a good overview. It also speeds up the process of assigning rights.

To create a user group, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the project root element and select Create UserGroup from the mini toolbar.

  2. In the Name column, type a new name for the user group.

  3. Optionally, add a description in the Description column.

Create users

To create a user within a user group, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the user group and select Create User from the mini toolbar.

The new user automatically appears in the user group you selected and in the All Users user group.

  2. In the Name column, type a new name for the user.

  3. Optionally, add a description in the Description column.

  4. If required, specify a password for the user.

Rename users

You can change the name of an existing user.

To do so, click on the user name in the Name column and type a new name.

Tricentis Tosca automatically updates the user name in the properties CreatedBy and ModifiedBy of all objects that the user created and modified.

Remove user groups

You can remove a user group if you no longer need it. Removing a user group dissolves the group, but does not delete or disable the users that were assigned to this group. The users also remain in all other user groups they are assigned to.

To remove a user group, right-click on it and select Delete from the context menu or press Del.

Remove users

You can't remove users permanently from a workspace since this would lead to data inconsistencies in different versions.

However, you can disable users if you no longer need them as described in chapter " Enable and disable users".
