Scan Salesforce

When you design your Bot, you use the following types of Modules (see "Use Modules"):

This chapter describes how to create Modules by scanning Salesforce.

Ways to scan Salesforce

You can scan Salesforce in one of the following ways:

  • With the user interface (UI) scan. In this case, you scan Salesforce like any other UI: open the respective Salesforce page and manually select the controls that you want to steer (see "Scan user interfaces").

  • With the Salesforce Scan. The Salesforce Scan connects to your Salesforce instance via the Salesforce SOAP API and automatically creates Modules from all controls that the API can access.

For information on how to steer Salesforce controls, see the Tricentis Tosca documentation.

Use the Salesforce Scan

Before you use the Salesforce Scan, ensure that you fulfill the following requirements:

  • You have valid Salesforce credentials.

  • You have the necessary permissions for your Salesforce instance.

You need the profile and permission to read and access metadata API calls from the Salesforce SOAP API: API Enabled and Modify All Data.

  • The machine on which you run RPA Studio is within the trusted IP range.

If it isn't, you need a valid Salesforce security token.

To use the Salesforce Scan, follow the steps below:

  1. In RPA Studio, right-click a Bot or a folder and select Scan from the context menu, or click on Scan in the RPA menu.

  2. In the subsequent dialog, click on Salesforce.

You can also access the scan in the following ways:

  3. In the next dialog, enter your Salesforce credentials.

The Security token is only optional if the machine on which you run RPA Studio is within the trusted IP range.

  4. Click Scan.

RPA Studio scans the Salesforce SOAP API and saves the Modules to the folder that you selected.

Rescan Modules

If you modify your Salesforce instance, you can update your Modules.

To do so, right-click the Module that you want to update and select Rescan from the context menu.
