Invite users or allow them to self-register for Tricentis User Administration

Tricentis User Administration allows you to centrally manage users across multiple projects. This saves you time and effort as your testing projects scale.

To do so, you first need to create users in Tricentis User Administration. Administrators have multiple options for creating users; this topic explains how to create users via email invite or self-registration.

What's in this topic?

This topic is for administrators. It has all the information you need to complete the following tasks:

  • Access the users overview, where you invite or manage users.

  • Invite users and resend invitations if an invitee didn't activate their account in time.

  • Allow users to self-register.

To invite users via email, you must have configured Tricentis Mail Configuration.

Open the users overview

The users overview shows a list of all Tricentis User Administration users.

To open the users overview, access Tricentis User Administration and go to Users.

Invite a new user

To invite a new user to Tricentis User Administration, follow these steps:

  1. Open the users overview and click Invite Users.

  2. In the subsequent dialog, enter the email address of the user that you want to invite into the Email address(es) field. You can enter multiple email addresses, separated by semi-colons.

Tricentis User Administration only accepts email addresses that follow the standard RFC syntax.

  3. Click Add.

  4. The dialog now shows your invitees in list view. Double-check and adjust the list, if necessary:

    • To remove invitees, hover over the entry and click on the delete icon.

    • If you entered an invalid address, Tricentis User Administration marks the entry with a warning icon. Click into the email address to correct it.

    • By default, Tricentis User Administration uses the email address as the user name. You can click into the name field and enter a different user name.

Invitees in list view, with one invalid email address

  1. Click Invite.

  2. In the subsequent confirmation dialog, click OK.

Invitees have 30 days to activate their account. After that, the activation link in the email expires.

You can see the date and time at which you sent the invitation on each user's account page. This information is available until the user activates their account.

Resend an invitation

If a user didn't activate their account within 30 days and the activation link expired, you can resend the invitation. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open the users overview and select the user whose invitation you want to resend.

  2. On the user's account page, click Resend invitation.

Allow users to self-register

If you don't want to invite users manually or if you can't send email from the machine that holds Tricentis User Administration, you can allow users to register themselves.

To do so, ask them to follow the steps described in this topic.

What's next

If you use Tricentis User Administration for authorization, organize your user groups. Once that's done, you can assign them to your Tosca test projects.

If you use Tricentis User Administration for authentication, you're good. Check the Tricentis Tosca setup guide. Maybe there's something else you still need to do?
