Export messages to Tosca Commander

You can export API Scan messages to Tosca Commander. This allows you to create API TestCases, XML/JSON TestCases, and OSV Scenarios. Once you have exported the messages, you can use them to run your tests.

You can export the following items from API Scan:

Change export behavior

By default, API Scan exports selected objects to a new ComponentFolder in Tosca Commander.

You can, however, change the export behavior in the following ways:

  • Select a specific ComponentFolder in Tosca Commander before you export from API Scan. In this case, API Scan doesn't create a new ComponentFolder, but exports all objects to the ComponentFolder you selected.

  • In API Scan, select Export to Component Folders (see step 3 below). This creates a structure of multiple ComponentFolders in Tosca Commander, similar to the API Scan project tree structure.

Export to Tosca Commander

To export messages to Tosca Commander, follow the steps below:

  1. In the API Scan window, select the object(s) in the project tree that you want to export.

  2. In Tosca Commander, select the ComponentFolder into which you want to export your objects. If you don't select a folder, API Scan creates a new ComponentFolder.

  3. In the API Scan window, click the API TestCase button or select one of the following options from its drop-down menu:

    • API TestCase. Optionally, select Export or Export to Component Folders from the drop-down menu.

    • OSV Scenario. Optionally, select Export or Export to Component Folders from the drop-down menu.

    • XML/JSON Test Case

Tricentis Tosca automatically creates all Modules and TestCases or Scenarios for your messages in Tosca Commander.

If you use the API Scan standalone version, Tricentis Tosca creates a separate subset of your exported objects. You can specify the path and name of the subset in the subsequent dialog.
